WHAT IS VISUAL POETRY?
Visual Poetry needs to be seen. It can be as simple as laying out the words on the page in a specific way. Or as complicated as combining words with conceptual art.
The reason I make visual poetry (or vispo) is because sometimes words are not enough to convey what I’m trying to say. And perhaps some things can’t be reduced to mere text. And not all of us communicate verbally.
COLLECTIONS
Prayer Stations: Acts of Reclamation
In this collection, originally for my MA dissertation, I take traumatic events our family went through and transform them, through creative activity, as a form of rehabilitation, thus reclaiming and redeeming them as well as myself.
A collection of poems inspired by Biblical Psalms.
My father’s dementia and becoming his main carer after my mother’s death had a major impact on me. Poetry has often been a way for me to cope with difficult things and this collection reflects that.
